Flexible Approaches Adopted to Address Sever Cold Weather to Guarantee Smooth Construction of Dashuikeng Wind Farm Project
From October 6 to 10, 2017, Ningxia’s Yanchi County was hit by an unexpected cold surge, followed by a heavy snowfall as the temperature plummeted to minus 10 degrees. During this period, the foundation construction of the Dashuikeng wind power project, the basic construction of the 35kV power transmission line towers and the erection of the 110kV transmission line crossing frame were being carried out in full swing. In the face of this sudden extreme weather, the construction project department and the supervision unit decided to immediately launched the cold contingency plan to halt aerial work, kick off the thermal insulation and maintenance work of the poured concrete onsite and strengthen routine inspection to detect hidden safety hazards.
On October 11, 2017, after five days of freezing weather, the weather turned fine and the temperature gradually rose. In order to ensure the progress of the construction and minimize the impact of the cold currents, the construction project department immediately coordinated with the supervision unit and the construction unit to resume overall construction. Braving the still cold weather, all management took the lead, fighting at the front, day and night, to command and control construction operations.
Due to the proper and measured response and powerful organization by the construction project department and full cooperation of construction units, the foundation construction of the Dashuikeng wind power project, the basic construction of the 35kV power transmission line tower and the erection of the 110kV transmission line crossing frame were smoothly carried out on schedule under the premise of ensuring safety and quality, which contributed to the power grid integration of Dashuikeng wind power project as scheduled.
